Real Estate Developers Receive Project Approvals Using Yes-Vote Process

Get approval for your real estate development with the help of Katie Coates. Public hearings are crucial turning points for many projects as developers work through the entitlement process. Katie’s clients get approval – Yes Votes – at city council, planning commission, and regional and state agency public hearings. Even “hopeless” projects get approval by overcoming opposition and building community support.

Katie Coates began her career at a large public agency, where she learned to communicate with the public about controversial issues and began practicing the art of communicating during crises. She has worked with clients on matters of litigation, fatal accidents, misinformation campaigns launched by disgruntled members of the public, political opponents, and those opposing real estate projects.

Katie has also helped clients get approval from decision makers by fighting onerous regulations at homeowners’ associations (HOAs) and by defeating misguided proposals at school board meetings. She has been awarded for her social media work as a strategist on political campaigns.

With a BA in Political Science with an emphasis in International Policy Studies from Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (California), she also earned a Certificate in Public Relations at University of California, Irvine and became Accredited in Public Relations (APR) by the Universal Accreditation Board in 1996.

In 2019, Katie was inducted into the Public Relations Society of America’s College of Fellows, an honor bestowed on only one percent of PR practitioners, in recognition of advancement of the profession, service and leadership, and “superior professional capability” with work of lasting consequence.

“Yes Vote: The Public Hearing Plan for Developers,” which Katie wrote in 2017, has become an Amazon international bestseller in seven countries across 11 categories. It will help real estate developers of all kinds get approval at public hearings. Katie is currently researching the neuroscience of decision making, influence, and persuasion. Katie lectures at several Southern California universities on the topic of crisis communications.

In her spare time, Katie travels, reads, and dances. She lives with her family in Southern California. In her “previous life,” Katie attended the acting program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
